Stakeholder Register Template
Projects don't fail on Gantt charts; they fail on people. A stakeholder register maps who matters, how much sway they have, and how you'll manage each relationship. Use this free template to build yours — or let Planquora keep it alongside your project record.
What it is
A stakeholder register lists everyone affected by or able to affect your project — sponsors, users, approvers, vendors, affected teams — with what they care about and how you'll engage them.
The classic lens is influence versus interest. High-influence / high-interest people you manage closely; high-influence / low-interest people you keep satisfied; and so on. The register turns that thinking into a plan.
When to use it
- At initiation, to identify who needs to be involved, informed, or won over.
- When planning communications — the register drives who gets what, how often.
- Whenever the cast changes: a new sponsor, a reorg, a new vendor.

Tips
- Rate influence and interest deliberately — they set the engagement strategy for each person.
- Don't forget negative or skeptical stakeholders. They often need the most attention, not the least.
- Keep the 'what they care about' column concrete. It's what makes your comms land.
- Revisit it at each phase. Stakeholders and their priorities shift as a project moves.
